Poziv na solidarnost: 300 štrajkača glađu u Grčkoj treba vašu pomoć!

Želim da me se tretira kao ljudsko biće – poput Grka. Kada dobijemo dokumente, neću se morati bojati policije i moći ću raditi legalno i imati zdravstveno osiguranje. Ali sada uglavnom razmišljam o ovome: što će se dogoditi ako nam vlada ne odgovori? (Arqal, štrajkač glađu iz Atene) Od 25. siječnja u Ateni i Solunu 300 imigranata štrajka glađu. Mnogi od njih žive u Grčkoj već duže od šest godina. Većina ih je radila u poljoprivredi – svi u izrazito problematičnim uvjetima. Biti bez dokumenata znači: nemati zdravstvenog osiguranja, neisplaćene plaće, bez mogućnosti putovanja… Odlučili su započeti štrajk glađu, tražeći bezuvjetnu legalizaciju svih imigranata u Grčkoj. Velika skupina štrajkača stigla je brodom s Krete. Grupe koje su im došle pružiti potporu dočekale su imigrante u luci Pirej a nakon toga su se, svi skupa, preselili u praznu zgradu sveučilišta u Ateni. Odabrana je zgrada sveučilišta zbog toga što policiji nije dozvoljen ulazak na teritorij sveučilišta (sveučilišni azil) još od kraja vladavine vojne hunte, kada je vojska nasilno ušla na teritorij politehničkog sveučilišta – ali u slučaju imigrantskih prosvjednika sveučilišni azil nije poštovan. Kao rezultat pregovora štrajkači glađu premjestili su se u zgradu u blizini sveučilišta. Ali sve do sada vlada nije ni mrdnula. Štrajk glađu se primakao odlučujućoj točki. Svakim danom štrajkači glađu postaju sve slabiji. Svaki dan donosi nove dramatične događaje. U petak se Hassan, jedan od štrajkača glađu, onesvijestio tokom konferencije za tisak: Kao što dobro znate danas je 25. dan našeg štrajka glađu. Za sada nismo dobili nikakav odgovor iz vlade. Nitko nam se nije obratio. Što vlada čeka? Čeka li da umremo? Nakon što je izgovorio ove riječi Hassan je doživio hipoglikemijski šok i pao u nesvijest. Ovaj incident ilustrira ekstremnu situaciju u kojoj se nalaze štrajkači koji asketski štrajkaju glađu sada već više od 25 dana, uzimajući samo vodu, šećer i sol. Do danas (26. dan) je već osmero štrajkača završilo u bolnici, a još desecima prijete ozbiljni zdravstveni problemi. Ali sve do sada vlasti se nisu pokrenule kako bi ispunile njihov zahtjev za legalizacijom. Šaljemo poruku premijeru, koji je izjavio da je radio kao čistač u Švedskoj i da je iskusio rasizam. Vrijeme je da intervenira prije nego što bude prekasno. Kako ne bi bilo mrtvih Val podrške štrajkačima glađu postao je ogroman: od članova institucija, do sindikata, stotina umjetnika i intelektualaca, tisuće simpatizera u Grčkoj i inozemstvu iskazuju svoju podršku. Ali vladu očito treba još malo pogurati – zbog toga stvar ovisi i o tebi. Vrijeme je za akciju! Smatram da otpor imigranata deportacijama, zlostavljanju, diskriminaciji i eksploataciji, u borbi za njihova prava i egzistenciju, predstavlja dramatičnu ljudsku borbu našega vremena. Dodatno, ili bolje rečeno neodvojivo, on predstavlja ključni element narodnog pokreta za demokraciju u Europi, pokreta koji prelazi državne granice i zbog toga izaziva pojačanu ksenofobiju. Solidarnost s imigrantima mora poprimiti oblik ne samo na lokalnoj skali, već i na kontinentalnoj razini. (Etienne Balibar)

We have followed the situation of refugees and migrants in Greece. We are not surprised that – again – migrants feel compelled to choose such a strong measure to campaign for their rights: putting their lives at risk. We express our solidarity with their cause. With this letter, we want to urge you to fulfil the demands of the hunger striking migrants, i.e. the unconditional legalisation of all migrants in Greece, before it is too late. We are acutely aware that the hunger strike is approaching its 30th day, and already, many hunger strikers had to be hospitalised. Their health and indeed their lives are at risk here, and it is the responsibility of the Greek government to resolve the situation immediately by decreeing a legalisation. By following the migrants’ demands, the Greek government can send powerful political signals. A legalisation would be the strongest communication to the other EU member states that the current system of delegating responsibility to the fringes of Europe cannot continue and needs a courageous solution. A legalisation would also finally end the years of uncertainty migrants have been facing in Greece and attribute them their rights as part of the society that they have long earned by their labour in the Greek economy and the life they have led in Greece. A legalisation would also send a clear political message that it is necessary to deal with the new and (be)coming citizens in a fair, respectful and dignified way and that xenophobia and racism are damnable attitudes that better belong to the past. The European answer of bordering and exclusion has no future, it only creates pain and violations of rights.
